A Productive Break: the Cover

So, after working on the text a bit today while I was waiting for the Finis shipment to arrive, I (a) got an idea for a cover (thanks to Paul Czege’s recent Story Games post about his cover), and (b) needed a break from the text. So, I designed my cover. It’s designed to print on a piece of legal paper with 0.25″ margins, since that’s what I can do easily. It’s a big image, so here’s a cut.  I’d like to know what ya’ll think.

  1. Nice use of typography! I would add a few more varied red sentences, even if they’re going off the edge.

  2. Jeff: On both sides? What about under the main text?

  3. The back definitely needs more red. The front needs… judicious additional red.

  4. If the hilighted text is not the same color as the titles, they could definitely overlap. Making more of these statements stand out gives the same impression as having these lines whispered by overlapping, unseen voices, and definitely illustrates the feel that I have gotten from reading your doc.

I think it would also be more appropriate to have a darker background color, but I know that home printing doesn’t go for that too well.

  5. I just think it looks awesome and carries the feel of your game across, Ryan.
